Abstract
995,342. Boiler furnaces. A. G. VANDEVELDE Nov. 5, 1963 [Jan. 31, 1963], No. 43624/63. Heading F4B. Secondary air for a gravity-fed, solid fuelfired, boiler furnace comprising a hopper 1 feeding fuel along an inclined water-cooled ramp 2 to an inclined grate 4 having an abutment and cleaning device 5, is ejected parallel to the ramp in the opposite direction of fuel advance towards a combustion zone contained by the base of the boiler 9 and a water-cooled projecting ramp screen 7, i.e. a zone which has no flue outlet in the general direction of air injection. The secondary air distribution conduit 13 is partially contained by the water-jacket 8, which like the other water spaces, forms part of the boiler, whereas the primary air inlet is disposed between the ramp base and the grate. Movable helical baffles 11 are suspended in the flue tubes 10 from a rocker member 12.
