899,963. Solid fuel furnaces. BRONSWERE N.V. April 1, 1960 [April 1, 1959], No. 11698/60. Class 51 (1). The front of a combustion chamber 2 fed from a hopper 1 is closed by a blind water-cooled wall 4 having projections 17 on its rear face forming channels so that air passing into the combustion chamber 2 below the wall 4 can flow upwardly into the fuel mass. The products of combustion pass through the finned water tube rear wall 5 to the secondary combustion chamber 16, and the grate 7 is cleaned by a clinker pusher 8. The projections 17 may comprise bars welded to the rear face of the double wall 4, or the rear plate may be formed with ridges 17<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3.
