Abstract

993,937. Air heating stoves. C. D. AMMENTORP. Feb. 26, 1964, No. 8034/64. Heading F4S. An air heater comprises a pumping chamber 3 for the air to be heated selectively connected by a valve 4 controlled electrically by a room thermostat to a main duct 5 having a heating element therein or to a by-pass duct 6. Air enters the inlet 1 and is pumped from the inlet chamber 2 to either main duct 5 or by-pass duct 6 depending on the setting of the valve 4. The main duct 5 contains a hot water boiler 17 and a fire box 12, connected by vertical flue tubes 14 to an annular smoke box 15 communicating with a flue 16. Both air ducts 5 and 6 merge into an outlet chamber 9 from which a number of outlet ducts 10 lead, below floor level 11, to the rooms to be heated. A switch (not shown) can be operated to override the thermostat so that the valve 4 will remain closed to the main duct 5, permitting fresh air ventilation. When thus used, the heater consists of two separate sections: a ventilation section and a water heater section.
