Abstract

990,056. Ball joints. KREIDLER'S METALL-UND DRAHTWERKE G.m.b.H. Aug. 4, 1961 [Aug. 5, 1960], No. 28398/61. Heading E2F. A ball joint comprises a socket 2 of resilient material formed with lateral projections 4, a metal sleeve 1 into which the socket is adapted to be inserted and formed with recesses 5 to receive the projections, and a ball member 6 adapted to be pushed into the socket after engagement of the projections and recesses. The socket is made of a rubber-like plastic containing molybdenum disulphide, and the projections 4 are bevelled at 4a to facilitate fitting. The ball member can be removed from the socket by turning it and utilizing the leverage obtained when the shoulder 6a abuts the edge 1a of the sleeve.
