989,074. Aerating ice cream. A. JOHNSON & CO. (LONDON) Ltd. Oct. 22, 1962 [Oct. 27, 1961], No. 38631/61. Heading B1C. [Also in Division F1] In a pump for supplying an aerated ice cream mix a piston 2 draws the mix from an inlet 3, and during the suction stroke air under pressure is injected into the mix via an inlet 7 for a variable period determined by a valve 13 coupled by mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic means to the crankshaft operating piston 2. The air line also incorporates a pressure control valve 12, filter 11, shut-off valves 10 and 14, pressure gauges 15 and 16 and a check valve 8. Inlet and delivery valves 4 and 6 may be ball or poppet valves. A number of pumps may be fed by a common air supply.
