Abstract

987,882. Core constructions. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. Jan. 16, 1962, No. 1547/62. Heading H2A. A heteropolar electrical machine has a rotary core member which in Figs. 1 and 2 comprises axial pole arms 10 interconnecting radial end limbs 11, 12 and alternating with axial pole arms 23 extending from both sides of intermediate limbs 24, the core being excited by at least two oppositely acting coils 13, 14 which produce opposite polarities at the two core ends and are accommodated at respective sides of the intermediate limbs. The pole arms are secured to a hub 19 by undercut or dovetail arrangements illustrated in Figs. 8... 11 (not shown), and the outer ends 15 of the pole arms may be laminated preferred shapes being shown in Fig. 4. Damping cage conductors 16 and damping plates 31, 32 are interconnected by conducting segments 17. The core is secured by non-magnetic end plates 18 which are clamped to end sections by screws 20 and bolts 21. The end plates 18 may have apertures 25 to provide ventilation for coils 13, 14; alternatively the coils may be embedded in an insulating material which is a good heat conductor.
