Abstract

983,563. Change-speed control. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. Feb. 6, 1964 [April 11, 1963], No. 14700/63. Addition to 935,501. Heading F2D. The gear-shift mechanism described in the parent Specification and having an axially slidable and rotatable selector shaft 22 fast with a selector spade 52 engageable with lugs 74, 76, 82 of strikers, is modified by the striker forks 70, 72 for establishing the forward ratios being freely mounted on the selector shaft 22. The interlock sleeve 60, which is axially stationary and has a groove 100 preventing movement of the unselected strikers, is modified by having an L-shaped slot 64 engaged by a pin 62 fast with the gear-box casing to prevent axial movement of the sleeve and to limit its rotational movement to between the two positions determined by the arms of the L.
