Abstract

A metal article is coated with an alloy by applying a mixture of 40-60 parts by weight of aluminium powder and from 40-60 parts by weight of one or more fluorides selected from the group-nickel, chromium or cobalt fluoride, chromium difluoride or trifluoride, and heating the article to between 1950 DEG F. and 2050 DEG F. for 1/2 -1\ba1/2 hours. The mixture may be formed into a paste with an acrylic resin binder. A thin layer of gold or platinum may be applied to the article before coating.
