In a multiple contact connector assembly comprising two mating insulating bodies 1, 8, held together by a brass rod 21, the fixed plate 1 has outstanding from one face insulating tubes 4, 5, 6, 7 containing sunken contacts 31, and the movable block 8 receives these tubes in sockets which contain mating contacts 32 located below the block surface within further insulating tubes such as 14. The inner conductors 30 of cable connections to plate I are held as shown on brass terminals 24, 25 which are fastened into the tubes 4, 5, 6, 7 by screw-threaded end portions 26 to which are soldered the contact springs 31. The outer conductors or armourings of the above cables may be soldered to a common conductor, a brass sheet 23. An extension 9 of block 8 contains grooves 20 to receive its incoming coaxial cables with conductive armourings which are interconnected by a brass contact plate 34 clamped on to the part 9. The sheathed inner conductors 33 extend through tubes 14 to the ends where brass contact pads 32 are soldered to the stripped cores, and are clamped in position by an insulating plate 38. The rod 21 and nut 43 thereon also connect together the plates 23 and 34 by way of a brass sheet 37 held under the nut 43, and hence connect the outer conductors of incoming and outgoing cables. In another embodiment, Fig. 8, a symmetrical connector of the above type is shown wherein two identical blocks 8 are held on either side of the fixed plate 1 by a longer rod fastened by two nuts 43. The terminals of the fixed plate now pass through it and are held in position between two insulating tubes 4 by collars 45. The insulating parts of the above connectors are made of methyl polymethacrylate.
