Abstract
977,877. Metal and concrete girders; lattice girders. BAUTECHNIK ANSTALT. Aug. 28, 1961 [Aug. 27, 1960; July 18, 1961], No. 30877/61. Headings E1K and E1V. The lower chord of a composite metalconcrete girder comprises a concrete slab 15 reinforced by metal plate 3 extending over the entire length of the girder, the plate having in cross-section a central generally horizontal portion 4, side walls 2 extending downwardly from said central portion to provide a central inverted channel and webs 5 extending outwardly from the walls 2 in a substantially horizontal direction, each web 5 terminating in an upwardly extending oblique side wall 2<SP>1</SP> to provide further channel portions on each side of the central inverted channel. The upper ends of side walls 2<SP>1</SP> may be bent in, Fig. 2 (not shown) or the side walls 2<SP>1</SP> may be continued to form a third pair of oblique side walls 211. The plate 3 may be bent from corrugated or toothed plate, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown). Steel bars or rods 14 may be provided in the side channels.
