Abstract

975,610. Hand saws. SLACK, SELLARS & CO. Ltd. Aug. 14, 1963 [Aug. 17, 1962], No. 31662/62 Heading B5L. A saw comprises a blade 12 which is connected to one end of a tubular bow 10 between parallel lugs 26 formed integrally with the bow by virtue of the extremity of the latter being swaged inwardly from both sides and a portion of material connecting the parallel portions being removed to form a slot 28. The blade is secured to the bow by a screw 30 passing through holes in the parallel portions and the blade, and tension is applied to the blade by a nut 20 on a screw 18 passing through a hole in the bow and having a pin 22 engaged in a hole 24 in the blade. The end of the blade is at an angle less than a right angle to the plane containing the toothed edge of the blade and the teeth continue to the outermost extremity of the blade. In an alternative embodiment, the blade is formed with projections on its opposite sides for engagement with slots in the parallel portions 26.
