Abstract

967,477. Hand tool handle fixings. SPEAR & JACKSON Ltd. May 17, 1963 [June 8, 1962], No. 22276/62. Heading B4K. The blade 10 of a pad saw is secured in the handle 11 by means of a retaining member 12 which is slit at one end to receive the reduced end portion 15 of the blade, the other end of the member 12 having a screw-threaded portion 22 engaged by a nut 20 whereby the end 8 of the blade is drawn into the barrel 13 of the handle and shoulders 23 on the blade are drawn into abutment with the end of the barrel. The blade has a slot 16 which is adapted to engage with a pin 17 extending transversely of the slit 14. The retaining member has an hexagonal portion 18 which fits into a similarly shaped recess 19 in the barrel 13 to allow assembly of the blade in six different positions about a longitudinal axis.
