Abstract

974,302. Heat exchanger tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO. Ltd. Dec. 21, 1961 [Dec. 30, 1960], No. 44778/60. Heading F4S. In a composite finned tube, e.g. for heat exchangers, the tube 1 is made of copper or copper alloy and plated on its outer surface X with zinc or cadmium to obviate electrolytic action with the metal of sheath 2 carrying fins 3, the sheath and fins being made of aluminium or aluminium alloy. In a modification the fins 3 are held between the end faces of distance rings (Fig. 2, not shown) which are also made of aluminium or aluminium alloy.
