Abstract
1,003,013. Heat exchanger tubes. PATTERSON KELLY CO. Inc. May 28, 1962, No. 20494/62. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger tube 10 is provided with an internal fin device comprising integral axially extending fins 14 extending radially from a common centre 15 and each terminating in an enlarged portion 16, the fin device being force-fitted into the tube 10 so that the portions 16 and the parts of the tube which they contact are elastically deformed. The fins 14 are of generally constant thickness and may have longitudinal serrations. The tube and fin device are formed separately, e.g. by drawing, extrusion, or casting, and may be of metal or other suitable material, not necessarily the same for both components.
