973,960. Carding-engines. GIDDINGS & LEWIS-FRASER Ltd. July 2, 1963 [Sept. 26, 1962; Feb. 9, 1963], Nos. 36479/62 and 5368/63. Heading D1N. A carding machine has shrouds associated with the main cylinder, the shrouds 11 being mounted on or integral with shroud rings 12 which are located to have portions concentric with and lying adjacent ends of the cylinder 10 with axially extending clearances. The shrouds 11 are spaced from the cylinder ends by distances sufficient to minimise or avoid the trapping of fibres. Bearings 14 for the cylinder shaft, may be carried by the shroud rings 12 which are attached to the frame 15 of the machine.
