971,693. Floors for stables &c. RALPH BLATCHFORD & CO. Ltd. Dec. 22, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959], No. 32279/59. Heading E1V. A floor structure for stables comprises a series of flat-based concrete beams or slats 1, Fig. 3, freely resting at their ends upon cross bearers 2 and spacer elements 3 interposed between the beams to maintain them in spaced relation to form a grid structure, the beams having a substantially T-shape cross-section, preferably with rounded top edges. The spacer elements may be removable and may consist of blocks which can be inserted several ways to provide different degrees of spacing. The spacer elements may each consist of a plate 6, Fig. 5, coacting with inclined surfaces on the beams, which is adjustable vertically, for example by a bolt and nut to vary the spacing between the beams. Plate-like insert members, which may be perforated, may be supported upon the beams to provide a continuous load-bearing surface.
