Abstract

969,526. Gravity-separation apparatus. G. D. PETERS & CO. Ltd. May 23, 1962 [July 14, 1961], No. 25547/61. Heading BID. A settlement hopper 1 for receiving liquids containing suspended solids at 8 has a weir 6 so. arranged with respect to the hopper as to prevent discharge over the weir from taking place until the hopper is filled to the top. As shown, the hopper has a closed top 4 and an upstanding compartment 15 in which the weir is located. Liquid leaves at 9 and solids at 10. In Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown), two concentric weirs are provided at the centre of the top of the tank, one discharging inwards to a central outlet pipe, the other discharging outwards to an annular channel communicating with the pipe by radial channels which interrupt the weirs.
