Abstract

802,000. Centrifugal separators. DE LAVAL SEPARATOR CO. Feb. 8, 1957 [Feb. 8, 1956], No. 4395/57. Class 23 The drive spindle 18 of a bowl 10 has a central passage 25 for the supply of liquid to be purified to the bowl and a concentric passage 27 for the supply of auxiliary liquid to the peripheral regions of the bowl. The liquid to be purified leaves the passage 25 through openings 19a, flows through the interior of a conical member 14, and passes through openings 14c into the bowl. The auxiliary liquid leaves the passage 27 through ducts 41, passes between the member 14 and the bowl bottom 15, and flows around the outer edge of the lowermost plate of the liner 13. The member 14 rests on a boss 16 on the bowl bottom, and has wings 14d, 42 which accelerate the incoming liquids. A post 14b extends upwardly from the conical member through the central holes of the liner, clearance between the liner and the post permitting purified liquid to flow to openings 45 for discharge through channel 44 and outlet 52. The impurities and auxiliary liquid are discharged through channel 48 and outlet 53. The inlets and the outlets are hermetically sealed to the spindle and the bowl respectively by spring loaded rubbing rings. Specificathion 778,503 is referred to.
