Abstract

969,037. Electromagnetic interrupters. SARGENT & GREENLEAF Inc. Aug. 16, 1961, No. 29500/61. Heading H2B. A resonant reed relay has an outer housing 11 and resilient blocks 13, 19 at each end of the housing 11 supporting an inner housing 21 which is sealed at. one end to a brass base 25 to which the tuned reed 27 is soldered. A coil 32 on a former 30 and a ceramic permanent magnet 35 are cemented in the inner housing 21 and surround the reed 27. During assembly the position of the magnet 35 may be adjusted to set the resonant frequency and for lowfrequencies the positions of the coil 32 and magnet 35 may be interchanged. The magnet faces 38, 39 (Fig. 3) are of opposite polarity. A protuberance 50 on the reed 27 acts as the movable contact and co-operates with the end 48 of a wire 46 soldered to a bracket 42 which is adjustable during assembly by means of a screw 52 therein. Plug terminals 17 are connected to the wire 46, housing 21 and coil ends 58. A block 56 of foam rubber acts as a buffer for the wire contact 48.
