Abstract
968,004. Heating-cables. H.V.E. (ELECTRIC) Ltd. Feb. 23, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7728/60. Drawings to Specification. Heading H1A. A braided sheath is formed with clearance about an elongated core, the ends of which are temporarily secured at the ends of a length of the sheathing, while subsequently one end is released and secured to one or more conductors, e.g. forming a heating element, which is/are then pulled into the sheathing using the elongated core as a draw wire. The sheath, which may be formed about a moving core, may conveniently be made of glass fibre yarn, and may be impregnated or coated with e.g. a waterproofing compound or solution prior to the drawing and of the conductor. The cable may be finished by providing insulated connections to the conductor, the joints lying within the sheathing whose ends are protected by suitable grummets.
