964,932. Transporting special loads. H. ATHERTON. July 15, 1963 [April 24, 1962], No. 15564/62. Heading B7B. A car transporter has a platform 16 supported on a frame 13, 14, 15 and intermediate the ends of the platform are wheels 62 carried by plates 60 which are rotatable to lower the platform to the ground. The wheel assembly 38 is rotatably mounted on a fixed axle 19 whilst the assembly 59 is mounted on a longitudinally movable axle 20, the other pivots 60 of the assemblies being interconnected by a compression spring assembly 65 which is adjustable as regards precompression and for height adjustment purposes. The axle 20 is moved by screwthreaded spindles rotated by shafts 51 driven by a motor 55 and gear assembly 54 mounted on the draw-bar. The forward part of the draw-bar 85 is pivot-ally mounted at 87 on the rear part 81, 82.
