In an inert gas-shielded arc-welding torch for internally welding a stub tube 12 to a tube plate 10 or header, the holder 34 for a non- consumable electrode 36 is supported parallel to the axis of the stub tube 12 by guide members 26, 18 co-operating with the bores of the plate 10 and stub tube 12 and is orbited about the axis during welding. One guide member 26 is connected by a rod 24 to the other guide member constituted by a block 18 rotatable by a worm drive 20 in a body 16 clamped by a screw 22 to the stub tube 12. The electrode 36 is clamped in a block in the end of the tubular holder 34 to which cooling water is fed by a pipe 50. The holder 34 is surrounded by a ceramic gas tube 40 having an aperture 38 through which argon flows. In a modification, clearance is provided between one or both guide members 18, 26 and the tube 12 or plate 10 and spring-loaded locating members are provided in recesses in the surfaces of the guide members 18, 26.
