Abstract

963,948. Strip fastenings. LIGHTNING FASTENERS Ltd. Jan. 18, 1963 [Jan. 23, 1962], No. 2429/62. Heading E2S. A separable fastener comprises a pair of strips 1 of resilient material to be placed in face to face relationship, the mating faces of the strips bearing corresponding integrally formed heads 3 and sockets 4 arranged to interlock when the strips are pressed together, each head being formed with an axial cavity 8 in its outer end and each socket being closely surrounded by a groove 15 in the face of the strip, to enhance the flexibility of the heads and sockets during engagement and disengagement. The strips which may be moulded from plastics or rubbery materials may each bear both head and sockets which may be arranged in an alternating series so that both strips have the same profile. Fabric 16 may be embedded in each strip during moulding.
