962,991. Wrapping-machines. ZAVODY V.I. LENINA PLZEN NARODNI PODNIK. Dec. 23, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 44259/60. Heading B8C. In a machine for wrapping cigarette packets, the packets are introduced through a shoot 1 to a first trough 12 where they are engaged by pushers 2 of an intermittently moving chain conveyer 3 and driven against a length of transparent wrapping material fed from a roll 6 cut to length by scissors 10. The wrapper is bent about the four leading edges of the packet by fixed members 13 in the trough 12 and upon reaching the end of the trough the packet is transferred from the trough into a pocket 14 of an intermittently rotating drum 15 by a reciprocating pusher 18. At successive stoppages of the drum 15 the trailing edges of the wrapper are folded about the packet by an arm 24 and heat sealed by irons 25, 26. At the fourth stoppage the packet is transferred from the drum into a second trough 28 by the other end of pusher 18. During subsequent movement in trough 28 the remaining flaps of the wrapper are folded in by members 34 and heat sealed by 35. The material used for the wrapper includes an integral tear strip, used to remove the wrapper from the completed package.
