Abstract

961,834. Endless conveyers. DAWSON BROS. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1960 [July 1, 1959], No. 22517/59. Heading B8A. Stacks of crates are conveyed in single file by continuously driven endless chains running in guides 2 from a stacker X through a holding station Y into a grouping station Z in which a group of four stacks is assembled for removal by a lift truck. In operation, the first stack of crates passes through the holding station Y and is guided by a pivoted deflector 17 on to a conveyer, comprising continuously driven endless chains in one of the guides 2 and in a guide 13, and engages a stop at the right of the station Z. The second stack follows the same path until it abuts the first stack in which position it operates a switch which causes supports 20x to raise the crates from the chains and also causes the deflector 17 to be moved to the dotted position. The next two crates are then brought to positions alongside the first two and supports 20 raise the second pair of crates from the chains. The four stacks are then removed, the supports 20, 20n are lowered automatically, a stop and lifter frame 7 at the holding station Y are lowered to release the following stacks of crates and the cycle is repeated. The system may be reversed in which case the deflector 17 is omitted, additional crate holding stops are provided as described with reference to Fig. 8 (not shown).
