Abstract

959,512. Carrying conductors through partitions. HAYWARD TYLER & CO. Ltd. April 26, 1963 [April 26, 1962], No.15951/62. Heading H2E. An electric conductor is sealed in an aperture in the wall of a vessel containing liquid at high pressure by means of the core of cable 7, being received in a socket at the end of terminal post 12 over which is fitted a sleeve 11, which has annular ribs. The cable 7 has a coating of P.V.C., and a sheath 2 also of P.V.C. is moulded so that it engages with the ribs of sleeve 11, and fuses with the coating of cable 7. This is located in a casing 9 which is screwed into the wall of the vessel, the bore of the casing providing a shoulder which rests on support ring 8 which has a headed bush 6, passing through its centre, the head bearing against the inner end face of the sheath collar 2A. A tubular casing 10 fits slidably inside the casing 9 and is clamped in position by gland nut 13. A spring washer 5 holds the sheath collar 2A lightly compressed, but when there is increased pressure within the vessel the bush 6 is pressed against the collar and deforms the material so as to increase the sealing between the collar and inside of the casing 10.
