Abstract
1,183,687. Co-axial connectors. UNITEDCARR Inc. 26 Sept., 1968 [9 Oct., 1967], No. 45790/68. Heading H2E. - A coaxial cable assembly comprises a connector having a hollow body member 36 forming part of a housing 18 and a coaxial cable assembled with the body, a portion of the cable spaced from one end being enclosed in a sleeve 14 extending through an axial slot in member 36, the end cable portion extending beyond said sleeve, being bent to extend within the member and being clamped to the member adjacent an aperture in its base portion. As shown, the housing 18 includes the body member 36 and a shell 32, the two parts being locked by means of grooves and a C-ring 52. An inner pin contact 54 is attached by, e.g. soldering, to the inner conductor 56 of the cable, after engaging an insulating bushing 58, and the sealing sleeve 14 of e.g. neoprene, which has an external groove 22 slipped on to the cable. A clamping nut 16 is then threaded on to the cable and press fitted into the body member 36 and the cable is bent so that the groove 22 is engaged with the edge of the holding slot 50. A compressor clamp 12 secures the sealing sleeve 14 and the whole is enclosed by a cap 10, after filling the cavity of the body member 36 with conductive packing material 62, e.g. conductive epoxy resin.
