Abstract

959,433. Containers; packaging. R. MAUSER, A. MAUSER, and P. MAUSER. Jan. 30. 1963 [Oct. 3, 1962], No. 3775/63. Headings B8C and B8D. A plastics container 1 with a snap-on lid has lips 5 formed on either side of a filling slit so that the container can be sealed by depressing the top of the lid thereby closing the lips 5 which may then be sealed by adhesive or by welding. The container is sealed by the apparatus shown in Figs. 5 and 6 the containers being advanced by belts 11 and 13 to a pair of adjustable rollers 19 which depress the top of the container. The belt 20 then engage the lips and press them more firmly together and advance the containers to the spring-applied electromagnetically released reciprocal heat-sealing jaws 22. The top of the container may be depressed by a ram 25 associated with the jaws 22 the alternative positions of the combined device being shown.
