982,881. Level-luffing jib-cranes. EISENBAU WYHLEN A.G. June 12, 1963 [Nov. 30, 1962], No. 23450/63. Heading B8B. Level-luffing is effected by passing a winding rope 15 round a pulley 16, Fig. 1, a pulley 11, Fig. 3, mounted on an axle 10 which supports counterweights 6, over a fixed pulley 13, Fig. 1, back over a pulley 12, Fig. 3, and then to a winding drum 14, Fig. 1. As the jib 4 is luffed by a ram 5 the counterweights, which are attached to the jib by cables 8, move up and down curved guides 7 on rollers 17, Fig. 3. The counterweights are pivoted on the axle 10 and attached to the cables 8 at points 18 which are a predetermined distance from the axle and therefore prevent rotation of the weights. The jib 4 and a cabin 2 slew on a base 1.
