946,548. Shuttering for casting concrete bridges. STRABAG BAU A.G., and KLOCKNER-HUMBOLDT-DEUTZ A.G. March 11,1960 [May 23, 1959],No. 8648/60. Heading E1S. Bridges &c. are cast in spans 1 between piers 3-7 in succession on shuttering that is advanced after the completion of a span by suspending the leading end from a trolley 16 running on a travelling girder 10 and the trailing end from a trolley 15 running on the cast span. The travelling girder 9 runs on rollers 8 on the piers 3-7 and is flush with the cast span. The shuttering 20 is supported on girders 11-14 supported by beams 23, 25 on jacks 32 on shoulders on the piers 3-7. The inner girders 12, 13 between the piers are connected by beam 23-25 and the outer girders 11, 14 are connected to the inner girders by removable sections 31. When a span has been cast the girders 11-14 and the shuttering are lowered by means of the jacks 32 on to a beam 26 suspended from the trolley 15 at one end and are suspended by ropes from the trolley 16 at the other end. After removal of sections 31 and shutter 20<SP>1</SP> in way of the piers the whole is advanced until the girder 26 reaches the next pier e.g. 4, Fig. 1 whereupon the trailing ends of the girders are supported by means of the jacks of the girder 24 on the pier 4 and the girder 26 is moved to the extreme trailing end of the girders and the whole moved forward until the girders and shuttering can be supported on the next piers 4, 5 for casting the next span after the girder 9 has been moved out of the way. Each span is cast with a part 27 projecting into the space for the next span and the shuttering during casting may be supported from this part 27 by means of the trolley 15. The girders 12, 13 and 11, 14 are moved in two stages.
