Abstract

941,842. Mineral-mining machines. GREEN & BINGHAM Ltd. Oct. 10, 1962 [July 14, 1961], No. 25575/61. Heading E1F. In a mineral-mining cutter drum cutter picks 9 are secured to some or all of angular section carrier members 7 disposed in a helical vane arrangement about the boss 2 of the drum. The members 7, primarily formed of a L section angle, may extend radially or otherwise from the boss of the drum and be welded to adjacent members to form one or more continuous helixes about the drum. The members may be formed having a boxed section by the securing together of two L section angles of which one is of considerably heavier section than the other. The boss is formed of cross braced, two part inner and outer cylinders and a disc cutter is secured to the outer end of the boss.
