Abstract
939,139. Automatic regulation. AIRPAX ELECTRONICS Inc. May 4, 1962 [May 11, 1961], No. 17329/62. Class 38 (4). A voltage regulating circuit for supplying a reference current which flows through a resistor 13 and an ammeter 19, e.g. to oppose and bias the output of a frequency detecting circuit 17, comprises input terminals 1, 2 for connection to an A.C. supply, a transformer 3 connected to a Zener diode 10 over a half-wave rectifier 7 and a resistor 9, terminals 10a and 10b the direct voltage across which is maintained relatively constant by the shunt Zener diode 10, output terminals 14 and 15 connected respectively to terminal 10b over a resistor 11 and to terminal 10a, and a correction circuit which supplies a compensating current to the output terminals so that the output will not change with variations in the A.C. supply voltage. The correction circuit comprises a rectifier 6 and a resistor 8 connected across the secondary winding 5 of the transformer 3, a smoothing capacitor 18 and a circuit point 21 which is connected to terminal 14 by way of a resistor 12. The arrangement is such that an increase in the A.C. supply voltage which causes a small current change at the output terminal 14 also causes a compensating change in the current flowing through resistor 12 whereby the current flowing in the load 19, 13 is unchanged.
