Abstract

938,139. Lathes. E. C. HAHN, [trading as INDEX-WERKE KOMM.-GES. HAHN & TESSKY]. April 27, 1962 [May 4, 1961], No. 16245/62. Class 83 (3). A turret slide for an automatic lathe comprises a slide frame 15 reciprocably mounted on a stationary guide 12. The slide frame has attached thereto a toothed rack 16 which engages a quadrant rack lever 18 operated through a feed lever 28 by feed cam 25. A return spring 30 is located in the guide 12 and one end acts against a shoulder on the rack 16. The position of the turret slide relative to the rack may be varied by an adjusting nut in co-operation with a threaded pin 44. The position of the rack relative to the spring does not change as the slide is adjusted and thus the spring force remains constant irrespective of the slide setting. An abutment 70 on the machine bed co-operates with the threaded pin 44.
