937,533. Ventilating vehicles. ADAM OPEL A.G. May 4, 1962 [June 6, 1961], No. 17173/62. Class 137. In a motor vehicle heater and ventilator system fresh air passes through a grille 21 in front of the windscreen 27 and an opening 34 to an air chest 55 containing a radiator 90 fed with water from the engine cooling system and mounted in the engine space and thence through an opening 60<SP>1</SP> in a horizontal portion of the front wall 12 of the passenger compartment to an air distributer box mounted on the passenger side of the wall 12. Entry of air through the opening 34 of the duct 55 is controlled by a flap 35 and a flap 94 controls the proportions of air passing through the radiator 90 and a by-pass channel 93. A fan 103 located in the opening 60<SP>1</SP> and driven by a motor 100 mounted by means of rubber washers 101 and screws 102 in the air distributer box 56 may be switched on at will and a flap 105 in the box 56 controls the proportion of air passing through pipes 72, 73 to defrosting nozzles 109 and to the foot space of the passenger compartment. The chest 55 and distributer box 56 may be formed of synthetic resin and are secured to the wall 12 by means of screws 62, 82.
