A platform 3 is movable from a low level to the height of the stretcher rails 17 in an ambulance by being mounted on paralellogram links 1, 2, the platform 3 being raised by a handle 10 secured to one of a pair of toggle links 11, 14, the dashpot 16 controlling the motion.
