Abstract

A dyeable composition comprises 80 to 95% of crystalline polypropylene and 20 to 5% of a soap, e.g. a salt of lauric, myristic, palmitic, stearic, oleic, ricinoleic or linoleic acid and Al, Cr, Cu, Ni, Co, Fe, Cd, Mn or Zn. Silica or alumina also may be present. The examples illustrate the spinning and drawing of fibres of such compositions, which are then dyed with disperse or basic dyes. The fibres may be made into tufted loop pile carpets. Specification 905,895 is referred to.
