[Also in Groups XXV and XXXII] A slat for a shutter, blind or floor, e.g. a vehicle floor composed of a plurality of hinged slats which can be rolled upon a roller from the flat or extended condition comprises an elongated rectangular member 1 having a plane face 2 with a shoulder 3, 4 extending rearwardly at or adjacent to each longitudinal edge, a female formation 5 extending rearwardly from or near the shoulder 4 with an internal partcylindrical surface 8 coaxial with the axis of rotation of the slats relatively to each other and said surface 8 terminating in a plane surface 9 which in turn terminates along said axis in a forwardly extending rib 10, and a male formation 12 connected to the member 1 by a curved portion 15 and having a flange 13 of width equal to the radius of curvature of the surface 8 and a plane face 14 inclined to the face 2 at the same angle as is the surface 9, for bearing against the surface 9 of an adjacent slat when the shutter &c. is in the unrolled extended condition, adjacent shoulders 3, 4 of adjacent slats then engaging each other to limit the relative movement of the slats to the coplanar condition of the surfaces 2. The surface 8 preferably subtends an angle of 90 degrees, Fig. 3, at the axis and the surface 9 is inclined to the face 2 at an angle not greater than 90 degrees, as shown in Fig. 3, in which the recess 6 and additional shoulder 7 of the female member and the marginal edge portion 16 of the flange 13 of Fig. 2 are absent enabling the slats to be engaged by a lateral relative movement rather than the longitudinal relative movement as necessitated by the construction shown in Fig. 2.
