Abstract

931,021. Road/rail crossings. STELCON A.G. March 21, 1962 [March 21, 1961], No. 10808/62. Class 107. A rail carrier plate 1 for bridging a level crossing projects on both sides of the track and has rail channels 2 of dovetail cross-section, the upper outer edge 9 of the channels being chamfered and the inner edges having a protective nosing 10. The base 8 of the channels is slightly downwardly inclined towards the centre of the track and carries levelling plates 7, preferably of poplar wood, against which the rails 6 are wedged by blocks 5. Filling material 11 is retained at the outer face of the end plates of a crossing by sheet metal plates (not shown). Vertical bores 4 are also filled. A gap of approximately 1 cm. between the plates 1 is fitted by a tarred rope 14. To enable the plates to be laid by a crane, bores 3 are provided to receive steel pins for attachment of crane cables.
