Abstract

Sodium cyclohexylsulphamate is prepared by heating cyclohexylammonium N-cyclohexylsulphamate with metallic sodium in presence of an inert diluent at a temperature, e.g. 100-135 DEG C., which is not less than the melting-point of sodium under the reaction conditions and not more than the boiling-point of cyclohexylamine under the reaction conditions. The initial sulphonate may be used as a mixture with cyclohexylamine produced by reacting together cyclohexalamine and sulphamic acid in a molar ratio of more than 2:1 until evolution of ammonia has ceased.
