Abstract

The invention comprises 4-chlorosulphonyl-N-sulphinylaniline and its preparation (1) by heating together sulphanilic acid with thionyl chloride in the presence of not more than 0.33 molar equivalent, based on the sulphanilic acid, of an amide of general formula H.CO.NR1R2, wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, (2) by heating sulphanilic acid with thionyl chloride in the presence of a compound (possibly of formula I) resulting from the reaction of sulphanilic acid with thionyl chloride in the presence of not more than 0.33 molar equivalent, based on the sulphanilic acid, of H.CO.NR1R2, and (3) by heating sulphanilic acid with thionyl chloride in the presence of not more than 0.33 molar equivalent, based on the sulphanilic acid, of a compound of formula I. <FORM:0904894/IV (b)/1> Specifications 820,444 and 904,893 are referred to.
