Abstract

928,105. Curtain walling. T. K. OLSEN. June 13, 1961 [June 27, 1960], No. 21250/61. Class 20 (3). In a curtain wall comprising an aluminium framework in the rectangular openings of which are contained removable coloured and hardened glass panels 13 and fixed and horizontally hinged windows 10, 11 respectively, air passages 51, 52 to a space 14 are provided at the top and bottom edges of the panels. The construction also includes an asbestos cement plate 15, insulating mineral wool mats 16, and a gypsym plate 18 covered with paper 20 and vapour barrier material 19. The air passages are provided by spaced 8-shaped suspension members 58, spacing members 60, and by mutually offset holes 63, 64 in the channels of the frame bars. These aluminium bars are in two parts 23, 25 separated by rubber strips to prevent heat transfer. The construction also includes conduit pipe 17 and on each horizontal side of a window external ventilating panels 48 (not shown) having depressed vents. The window 11 hinged about an axis 12 is contained by a frame 29, 30, 31 which abuts fixed bars 23, 25, 27, 28 by sealing strips 32, 33.
