Abstract

927,457. Insulators; junction boxes. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 8, 1960 [Feb. 13, 1959], No. 5141/59. Classes 36 and 38 (1). A bushing insulator, for leading spaced conductors through a wall separating insulating media of differing dielectric strengths, contains spaced conductors at least one of which is cranked so that the spacing between conductors on one side of the bushing is greater than the corresponding spacing on the other side. A three-phase bushing 5 of epoxy resin carries airspaced conductors 2, 3, 4 into an oil- or compound-filled cable box the spacing between conductors 2a, 3a and 4a within the box being reduced by cranking two of them within the bushing, in line with the mounting flange 5a. Instead of the three conductors being in the same plane as shown, the central one may be above the other two to provide a more compact bushing, all three being cranked to be equally spaced from one another.
