Abstract

927,305. Supporting cables. SIRTI SOC. ITALIANA RETI TELEFONICHE INTERURBANE S.p.A. Aug. 17, 1961 [Aug. 19, 1960], No. 29770/61. Class 36. A suspension device for cables, especially plastics-sheathed self-supporting cables, comprises a clamp for gripping the cable, a supporting fastening and an elastic element interposed between the clamp and the fastening, the element being adapted to permit transverse oscillations of the cable. As described an elastic element 3 in the form of a rectangular plate is pivotally held at one end by a pin 4 between jaws 2 of a clamp. Between the ends 2<SP>1</SP> of the jaws 2 is held the supporting strand of a selfsupporting cable 1. Clamping of both the elements 3 and cable 1 is ensured by means of a screw 5, or a nut and bolt. The element 3 is supported at the other end from a bracket 7 by means of a bolt 6. An open slot 8 through which the bolt 6 passes facilitates easy replacement of the device. To limit the amplitude of oscillation of the cable 1 the member 3 is provided at the supporting end with a rigid member 9. When used with an inclined cable run either or both the clamp 2 and strap 5 are turned about their pivots.
