Abstract
923,759. Compressors. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Jan 2, 1962 [Jan. 2, 1961], No. 110/61. Class 8(1). Resilient support of an electric motor compressor unit 3, Fig. 3, mounted vertically within an hermetically sealed outer casing 2 is affected firstly by a coil spring 6 extending between the bottom of casing 2 and a recess 8 formed at the bottom of an inner protective casing 9 surrounding the unit 3 and secondly by a pair of torsion springs 7 each connected at one end to an ear 12 of a bracket 11 secured to the outer casing wall and at the other end to a stud at the top of the inner casing 9 whereby the resulting line of action of the torsion springs lies in a plane normal to the vertical axis of the motor 4 and above the lower end of the unit 3. Excessive rotational movement of the unit is prevented by bolts 13 projecting upwardly from casing 9 through apertures 14 in bracket 11. In a modification said movement is prevented by abutment of projections 16, Fig. 2 (not shown), of casing 9 against lugs 17 secured to the side of casing 2.
