Abstract

923,508. Variable-speed gear. FICHTEL & SACHS A.G. March 14, 1960 [April 16, 1959], No. 8980/60. Class 80 (2). A variable speed eccentric mechanism comprises a wheel 4 mounted on a double eccentric 1, 27 but being prevented from rotating with respect to the gear housing by a device 5, the wheel 4 having an outer friction surface 25 which is adapted to engage the inner surface 26 of a bell-shaped member 8 attached to a hollow shaft 10. The eccentric 1 is connected to a hollow shaft 2 by a lug 18 which is guided in a radial slot of a disc 20 united with the shaft 2. An adjustment shaft 19 carries the eccentric 27 and also a disc 23 having holes which are adapted to be engaged by a spring-loaded pin 22 mounted on a disc 21 secured to shaft 2. The surface 26 of the member 8 is forced into engagement with the surface 25 by springs 31. The transmission ratio is varied by angular adjustment of the eccentric 27. In a modification, the wheel 4 is toothed and is adapted to mesh stepped teeth 9 on the member 8 which is located axially by an arm 33 secured to a setting rod 32.
