923,410. Fabrics composed of fibrous material agglutinated by adhesives. KENIL Ltd. Nov. 29, 1960 [Dec. 10, 1959], No. 42054/59. Classes 42 (2) and 74 (2). A method of manufacturing weftless tape consists in laying natural fibres together and subjecting them to treatment with an adhesive consisting of polyvinyl acetate emulsion and a plasticizer in which a pigment is incorporated. Any natural fibres such as cotton, wool, linen or ramie may be used. In an example, the fibres in the form of yarn are wound on a beam or creel and thence drawn continuously through a bath containing polyvinyl acetate emulsion, a plasticizer and a pigment, whereby they are formed into a coloured tape which is then passed through a heated drying chamber and subsequently calendered and wound on a reel. The amount of plastic material added to the yarn is of the order of 30 to 40% by weight of the yarn, which proportion is such as to produce a plastic strip or tape reinforced by the fibres.
