Fluid material, e.g. molten chocolate, is dispensed in adjustable quantities to receptacles by feeding the material through a duct A by a pump P into a chamber 9, from which some of the material flows through a rotary distributor D into the receptacles, while excess material flows through an outlet 14 to a valve R which controls the pressure in the chamber and thus the quantity dispensed to the receptacles. The pressure is indicated by a gauge E, and if the pressure is excessive a contact 56 in the gauge operates to stop the pump.
