Abstract

1456787 Dispensing fluent material W HAMBURGER UNTERLAND GES FUR KUNSTOFFTECHNIK GmbH 28 Jan 1975 [28 Jan 1974] 3682/75 Heading B8N A dispensing apparatus particularly for granulated material comprises an inlet 1 located above an outlet with a rotatable body, e.g. a shaft 2, therebetween and provided with one or more measuring recesses 3, 3<SP>1</SP> whose size is increased immediately after filling by a cam 10 and slide 11 arrangement. The slide 11 forms one wall of the recess 3 which is defined by a trapezoidal cross-section channel in the shaft 2. The increase in size of the recess aids discharge of the metered material. The recess may be further defined by an adjustable slide 5 so that the dispensed volume can be changed. Alternatively the axial position of the cam 10 can be adjusted, Fig. 2 (not shown), or the slide 11 can be actuated by an adjustable bolt (12<SP>1</SP>), Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) which engages the cam and is adjustable in a slot (32) in the slide (11<SP>11</SP>). The apparatus can be used for dispensing colour concentrate granules to a colourless granulate prior to extrusion or injection moulding. The dispensing apparatus may be controlled by a time relay associated with the extrusion screw or be switched on and off in dependence on the suction or pressure in the pipe to moulding machine.
