Abstract
818,851. Apparatus for delivering viscous fluids. ELLINGHAUS, W., and HILGERS, H., [trading as BENZ & HILGERS MASCHINENFABRIK]. June 18, 1957 [June 23, 1956], No. 19151/57. Class 102(1). A device for delivering and filling viscous fluids such as ice cream, or melted cheese comprises a rotary body 3 having a trough shaped recess 4 and a separate duct 7 extending from the circular face of the body to an end face at the level of the axis of rotation of the body. A member 9 is secured to the body 3 by screw 10 and continues the duct 7 by a passage 13 to an outlet nozzle 8, preferably formed as a swan neck. In operation the viscous fluid is fed by a feed worm from a supply funnel 2 and recess 4 to a measuring cylinder (not shown) during the suction stroke of the piston in that cylinder, the rotary body is then moved so that the duct 7 communicates with the cylinder and the material is ejected through duct 7 passageway 13 and nozzle 8. The rotary movement of the body 3'causes an equal rotary movement to the outlet nozzle 8 which dips into the packing to be filled in the ejection position. The position of the nozzle 8 may be adjusted relative to passage 13 by releasing lock nut 14, and the member 9 may be adjusted angularly relative to the body 3 by means of an arcuate slot cooperating with the screw 10. The rotary body is prevented from moving axially by a clip 16 pivoted about 15 which also allows removal of the body for cleaning. The member 9 is also provided with plug 12 to allow cleaning of the passage 13. The rotary body is oscillated through a link 20 connected to the driving means of the piston the arrangement being such that after ejection the piston starts its suction stroke while the measuring cylinder communicates with the duet 7 thus preventing dripping from the outlet nozzle.
