Abstract

918,318. Latches. KEIPER, F., PUTSCH, W., PUTSCH, L., PUTSCH, F.-W., and PUTSCH, U., [trading as KEIPER, F. [Firm of]]. March 3, 1961 [Sept. 16, 1960], No. 7934/61. Class 44. A latch for the door of a motor vehicle comprises a latch bolt 2 pivotally mounted at one end on the door and a keeper including a hingedly mounted member 6 which has two projecting legs 15, 17 connected by a curved guide surface 16, 18 and a boltreceiving member 7 having a recess 26 for receiving the free end of the latch bolt. The member 6 is biased towards the open position by a spring 20 and in its closed position the end 24 of the leg 17 bears against an abutment 25 on the member 7. The pivoted end of the bolt is held by the curved surface 16, 18 in both a partial and fully-closed position. The member 6 may be made from a polyamide whilst the member 7 may be formed from a synthetic plastics material.
